Hi everyone.
I am a college student, and my parents EFC this year was $4500. Still, it said I may be eligible for 1200 in grants, other grants, and Stanford loan. My school total cost is 16000, the tuition is 8500. Last year I borrowed like $8000 on Loans to cover expenses and stuff. Now all my friends received their award letters and they have loans, grants, and stuff. I received mine with only 475 for each term in KEES money. I am totally scare because I need loans to pay for school. I am going to my financial Aid office tomorrow. Do you think the amount I already borrowed affect my financial Aid?

There may be a simple explanation, but you need to find it.

First of all, look at your Student Aid Report. This is the document that was either emailed or snail-mailed to you after you completed the FAFSA. Look in the upper right-hand corner. Do you see the EFC? What is the number? Is there a “*” next to it?

If you did not get a SAR, did you get an email that indicated that your FAFSA could not be processed for some reason?

Did you send the FAFSA to the correct school code?

Read the comments on the SAR. Are there any comments relating to citizenship match or selective service registration?

Begin with the answers to the above questions & we can go from there.
