Will living in France and Mexico help my chances?

Hi,

I was wondering what my chances are in getting into ND.
Here are my basic stats:

31 ACT
3.78 GPA, lots of ap's and honors, i also take classes at university of northern iowa
Eagle Scout, Senior Leader, 4 yr. Varsity baseball player, lots of other stuff...

WILDCARD: I lived in France and Mexico and I wrote about this for the essay, but I am Caucasian. Do you think this will significantly help my chances? And how important really is the essay in their admissions decision?

and i currently live in iowa

I think it will give u the ability to write an essay with a unique perspective and will give you a different perspective from the average ND student. However, just because you lived overseas does not give u any advantage. It’s inherently not fair to give you an advantage just for that because many people have not been given that opportunity. However, if you can show u took full advantage of such an awesome opportunity like that, then it can only help you.
