Will my chem SAT hurt me?

I’m going to be applying to colleges soon. I’m debating on weather to take another science SAT. I took the chem one at the end of sophomore year and got a 720. Since then I took Math 2 and got a 800 and a 2250 on the SAT1. I’m trying to major in computer science. Will that 720 hurt me in trying to get into schools like Northeastern and NYU?

No. If you wanted to major in compsci, you should’ve taken physics.

Also, *whether.

sort of, it is the college of letters and science so there will be many qualified applicants.

Overall, I BELIEVE if you obtain a score of a 700 or higher, you will be fine. At the point of achieving a 700 or higher, the difference of even one question being right or wrong can change your score greatly. Thus, colleges will look more at your EC’s and GPA.

Of course, if you have time, It can’t hurt you to retake it. But don’t go out of your way.

With reference to michelle426’s comment, you can take whatever SAT science subject test you want with computer science. Saying that you should take SAT physics just because you are a computer science major is incorrect. I am also a computer science major and I also took the SAT chemistry exam.

Just think about it, a difference between a 700 and 800 on the chemistry exam is around 15 questions. A 720 is about 13 questions wrong. If you were a college, would you deny someone just because they got a few multiple questions incorrect? I would rather accept a person with good EC’s and a 700 than a person with poor EC’s and a 800.

Good luck and have a great day!
