I just did an estimate of the income taxes that i WILL FILE for 2012 when i did the FAFSA the other day. They processed it and said my EFC is 05358 and im not qualified for Federal Pell Grant.

However, my question is, when I actually file my taxes (and I"m sure it will be different than my estimates) and change that section of the FAFSA, will they reprocess my FAFSA and change my EFC so I can get grants? Or is the EFC final and never going to change for my 2013-14 financial aid?

Your final EFC will be based on your 2012 income and tax return numbers. Did your income drop? If not, you still won’t likely get a grant. What changes do you anticipate that would make you Pell eligible?

I honestly randomly put numbers x__x I should’ve put the numbers off of the 2011 one. That was stupid :(

Yes, that would be silly. You need an EFC of 0 in order to qualify for Pell Grants. Use a FAFSA4caster to see, using your 2011 returns, if that’s possible.

That’s not true. EFCs up to ~5000 are Pell eligible. I don’t know the 13-14 numbers yet.

But yes, OP, your EFC will change. Can you take a close guess of your income using paystubs?
