Will my experience in Sales and Marketing be relevant if I apply for Industrial Engineering?

I’m a Mechanical Engineering (Undergraduate) from India and I will have 18 months of work experience by Fall 2017. I work for one of the top lubricant manufacturing companies and handle B2B sales. Being a Techno-commercial professional, I touch wide range of Industrial applications during my work.

I would like to pursue MS in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Supply Chain Management. I’ve two parts in this discussion-

a) Will doing a Masters in IE add value to my profile in moving up the corporate ladder?
b) Will sales experience be recognized after completing Graduate degree?

Any insights would be highly appreciable.

a) Yes, generally. Most companies appreciate an advanced degree relevant to your work.

b) Only if you are applying for a sales-related job. Which is not most engineering jobs.

Cosmicfish- Thanks for your response. A sales experience wouldn’t help even if I switch to SCM then?

In SCM it might help little, but still probably not much.
