Will my Latin subject test score affect my chances at Georgetown SFS?

Haha quick update. I just submitted my application-- with that 480 latin score. I feel much better now. Nothing to do but wait.

Good luck!

@NikkuWadde Why did you submit the Latin score?

I took it back in the summer and I chose the option where it sends your scores automatically, so georgetown has had them for months. I was naive when I sent my scores and foolishly picked the free score report option (where your scores get sent, but you don’t get to see them first) @itsgettingreal17

So basically, I’ve realized there isn’t any reason to worry because there isn’t anything to do but wait. If georgetown decides to focus on all the good things in my application, rather than one mistake/ bad part of application, great!-- that’s the sort of school I’d want to go to anyways.

Great attitude! I wish you much luck. I’m sure you’ll have lots of great option.

You should really retake Latin in December just in the event that you get deferred. You can then email your regional adcom with your higher score.

@londondad I’m planning on it… But if I get deferred, my enthusiasm for the school will have diminished a bit. I would be looking at more realistic options upon my deferral. Praying i just get accepted the first time around, and that my obvious interest in Arabic will make adcoms be like “oh, he is really into Arabic NOT Latin.” plus, I really do believe that subject test was a fluke. I got a gold medal on the National Latin Exam the year I took the SAT 2 Latin test, and I listed that under my “awards” section. So hopefully that helps balance it out too. And I know this is wrong to even think, but I heard Georgetown doesn’t get many African American applicants in the early round, so I was hoping that would help me too.
