Will my location improve my chances?

So I know that colleges like to have students from all over the country, and so a student from a state like North Dakota or Wyoming might have a better chance at a selective school than someone from New York. Does anyone know if being from Washington would improve my chances, or make things harder for me? I live about 30 miles outside of Seattle. Thanks so much!

it definitely won’t make things harder but i can’t say it’ll improve your chances much.

Washington is not an under represented state. If you were from a rural area of Washington, then that might get someone’s attention. But on the whole since you’re from one of the urban centers, no advantage whatsoever.
