Hello, I’ve been in a very hard working service club where time is fully dedicated to serving the community (not one of the clubs where we go to raves and pass out water, no offense) but i recently got kicked out because I didn’t reach the minimum amount of hours to be done by the end of summer. I’ve been in the club since 9th grade, I’ve honestly completed over 150 hours a year, but I was busy the last part of summer with family problems and was unable to attend services. How will I put this on my UC app? I would like to be as honest as possible. I wish I could say I was part of it for a while of 12th grade (summer), but I can’t. I think the worst thing that could happen is that I check off that I was in it for 12th grade, and I get caught for it. Should I mark that I was in it for 12th grade (summer) or should I just not check it at all? I am applying to the UC system.
I don’t think that will matter a lot. If you participated in the club during this past summer, check off 12th grade.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be ongoing for you to check off that box.
If not, just check off 9-11.
Whether you did this particular activity for 3 years or 4 years won’t make a whit of difference for the purpose of college admissions to the UCs. Just find some other activity you enjoy and do that for senior year instead. Nice to have the opportunity to try something new, right?
