Will Sibling not attending graduate school affect financial aid?

On the financial aid forms my dad and I filled out like the CSS Profile, we were asked if another sibling would be enrolling in college at the same time as me. At that time, my brother was about to graduate with an undergraduate degree in neuroscience and so the option of grad school was on the plate and I genuinely thought that that could be a possibility. Over the summer he landed a job in his new passion, computer science, so he will no longer be attending grad school. I was just wondering how much this might affect my financial aid. I will be attending Northeastern University in the fall and they gave me over $29,000 per semester. My decision to go to Northeastern was largely based on the financial aid and I’m worried that it’ll decrease by a lot when I verify that he will not be going to grad school.

I don’t think it will affect it at all. Graduate students don’t normally count in FA calculations because they are considered independent. Call the school if you’re worried.

@Erins dad While you are somewhat right, the school may not have know that the sibling was a grad student.

The family (possibly wrongly) counted that student when he wasn’t going to be an undergrad.

It is possible that this student’s aid will change a lot.

@Akinpeluo When you applied for aid, did you just indicate 2 in college? Or did you specifically let NEU know that your sibling was going to grad school?

I’m like 85% sure I indicated that it was grad school. I will call them soon to clear things up. Thank you for your responses!
