Will taking a fine arts class instead of an AP science class affect my chances?

I go to a public high school in Arizona and our schedules are not very flexible. I found out that I made it to the schools top choir (school is very into fine arts) but it is offered the same hour as AP Chemistry. Both classes are only offered once a day. What should I do? Should I take the choir class that I will love or should I go to AP Chem? Eventually, I want to go to college for physics. Would it hurt my chances to take choir instead of AP chem to top colleges?
Plus I have been in choir for all my life so this is a big achievement for me.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Take Choir. Are you in AP Physics?

What year are you? What other APs have you taken?

I’d go with the choir, if that’s what you really want to take. You need to demonstrate that you’ve taken a rigorous curriculum, but not taking one AP is not, by itself, going to be a deal breaker for top schools.

No. My school does not offer it. If I take choir instead of AP chem then I could take regular physics. Thank you!

I am going to be a junior and I have taken 2 other AP’s (Bio and Euro) without AP chem I would be taking 3 AP’s this year. Thanks!

For college, AP Chem. is more prestigious. But don’t let college admissions dictate your life decisions

Yes, absolutely!

Thank you so much! I think I will take the choir class. Oh and I don’t think I mentioned that I would eventually take AP Chem senior year.

Absolutely agree with your decision. In addition, keep in mind that there are some LACs that actually want to see some artistic interests as well as the AP classes.

Take it! Colleges love that stuff

Thanks! Something in me told me that colleges would prefer to see someone who continues an extracurricular for there entire high school years than an AP class.
