will taking pre-calculus senior year affect my chances?

Um, it’s a Catholic school…

Well, your other grades look good to me. It looks like you are a strong student who just doesn’t like math. I think you still have a chance. At my school, the normal level of math for senior year is Pre-Calculus. Although, there are quite a few people who take calculus.

I think your grades are well within range to be accepted, assuming your overall GPA puts you in roughly the top 10% of your class. That said, as you know, your math/science ARE hurting your chances, but I think taking pre-calc your senior year helps those chances, especially if you are applying Early Decision.

Looking over your transcript – which is great, btw.

I would recommend taking the pre-calc.

First – it shows that you’re challenging yourself.
Second – Getting a “B” really won’t hurt you (it’s consistent with your overall pattern)
Third – while I don’t think that every student needs Calc AB or BC, I’d be concerned that stopping after Algebra II might stand out.
