Will there be tennis courts and swimming pools in the Merced Gym soon?

I'm a high school senior currently and I read an article online that was published in 2005 that the school gym doesn't offer tennis courts, racquetball courts, or swimming pools, but the article also said that they will be established in a few years. I can't find anything online that says the gym is equipped with these. Does anyone know if there are Tennis courts/swimming pools at the gym already or if they are in development? I am interested in doing both If I do attend here, mainly Tennis, but I don't want to find a gym off campus to do these activities.

There are currently no swimming pools / tennis courts at UCM. You’re going to have to go off campus for them. The new Residence Halls (dorms) are supposed to be finished 2013. After that I think the school will expand on the cafeteria / gym. So I wouldn’t get your hopes up for tennis courts / swimming pools anytime soon.

I see, that is kind of disappointing. My main reason for thinking about Merced is because the small student population setting with more intimacy with professors and having more leadership opportunities appeals to me. How close are the closest tennis courts/pools to the campus by bus/car?

There are swimmings pools / tennis courts in the Millennium Sports Club, which is 8 minutes away according to Google Maps. The Millennium Sports Club is actually located in the closest center / (eating) area to UCM too, as UCM literally is in the middle of nowhere (surrounded by cows + cornfields)

I am assuming you are a Freshman who will be living on-campus. Coming into UC Merced dont expect to be playing tennis or swimming. Tennis and Swimming Pool services are available to you but you will most likely rarely or never use it. The reason is convenience; u will have to take cattrack to get to Merced College which is a 30+ minute ride. You probably wont have enough free time for a hour total commute and #hours u are using the facilities.

The Millennium Sports Club has a lot of stuff (i.e. racquet ball court, swimming pool, and tennis courts) but membership costs $$ (i think it was $80 or something like that dont know how often you pay). Also the cattracks will take awhile.
