Will this bring up my GPA?

My advisement teacher said that next year during my senior I can probably be able to take some AP classes

I’m only considering taking AP literature class and AP history since I’m really good at taking those subjects. AP math and Ap science is a bad way to go since I’m bad at math and science is to similar to math.So I’m not planning on taking AP math and science

I’m trying to bring up my GPA to a 3.0 by the end of junior year according to the Career center leader if I get all A’s this year I can bring my 2.8 to a 3.0 right now I have only 2 B’s with the rest being A’s I’m planning on bringing those 2 B’s up.

I heard if you take AP classes you get extra GPA points which is why some people have a 5.0 GPA I know next year if I only take regular classes and get all A’s the most I can get is a 3.2 GPA but if I add one or two ap classes will I be able to raise it above a 3.2 GPA?

GPA is hard to talk about on the internet since different areas in the US can have very different GPA standards. But I’ll use the GPA scale where I am as I attempt to answer your question. I highly recommend you check with your GPA scale because it is possible it is entirely different than mine.

Where I am, it is kind of similar to yours. We get a 0.5 added to our final weighted GPA for Honors courses, and we get 1.0 added to our final weighted GPA for AP Courses. Our GPA scale goes:
A: 4.0
A-: 3.7
B+: 3.3
B: 3.0
B-: 2.7
C+: 2.3
C: 2.0
C-: 1.7
D+: 1.3
D: 1.0
F: 0.0

I guess we should use an example. I will try using what you told me to do this. Let’s assume you do not sign up for any AP STEM courses like you said. You sign up for 2 APs (History and Literature). Let’s say you decide to take five more core/elective classes, but they are not AP or Honors. Let’s assume you get an A as a final grade in each class. Then, to add up your GPA, you would add up 5.0+5.0+4.0+4.0+4.0+4.0+4.0=4.28 (approx.) Your final weighted GPA for that school year would be around 4.28.

Sorry if this scale or answer does not apply to you. I wish you the best of luck!

Have a good day and happy holidays!

Thank you I will try to check my scale
