I was a 4.0 student all throughout my freshman and sophomore year of high school. I left my high school for TAMS (Texas Academy of Math and Science). TAMS is a college preparatory school and basically allows advanced high school students to complete their junior and senior year of high school while simultaneously doing their first two years of college at the University of North Texas. Admissions is very rigorous.
Anyways, I was admitted into this academy and during my first semester, my gpa dropped to a 3.26. This was due to many social/depression problems which I faced during my first semester.
At this school, it is normal to not make a 4.0, but most people make higher than a 3.6 their first semester. TAMS sends out a letter to colleges explaining our coursework is much more rigorous than the norm of highschool, including AP and IB programs.
If I am able to bring up my gpa to a 4.0 or atleast a 3.8 for the remaining semesters, will this affect my college admissions?

Oh by the way, i forgot to include, but I am making about 2300s on practice SATs and >34 on ACT, so I feel good about standardized tests. I’m also well rounded.

I’m asking for my chances at top colleges (ivies/private)
