So, my teacher showed me the letter of rec that hes sending to Harvard (i got waitlisted)and it begins with:
"I am writing to make a case that xxx is the brightest st to have ever come to our school..."
i want to know how much of an impact will this letter have on the admission office's final decision

Harvard doesn’t publish the number of students they waitlist, but Yale and Princeton waitlist about 1,000 students. Harvard probably waitlists about the same number. I imagine hundreds of students have teachers write letters proclaiming them the best and brightest of their school. So, no one can really say how much of an impact your letter will have, as compared to all other student’s who are having teachers send letters. The best advice anyone can offer you is to move on. If Harvard calls, that would be great, but you now have to fall in love with the school that feel in love with you.

Unless you happen to insert a $15million dollar donation cashiers check to the envelope…

You’ll be offered a spot based on issues out of your control. The letter is nice but you should place no further hope into it. Follow gibby’s advice.

yeah, u guys are probably right :/
