Will this writing score reflect poorly on my writing abilities?

I recently took the ACT with writing and got back my scores recently. While I did get a 36 composite from the four multiple choice sections, I was disappointed to only get an 8 on my essay. I am not neurotic enough to retake the test, but I am wondering if this could perhaps hurt my chances at my reach schools, MIT, Princeton, and Caltech. I do think I can produce some good essays for my college apps, and I do pretty well in my English classes. I just do very poorly on the ACT and SAT writing sections (7 on the SAT).

I guess what I'm asking is whether the 8 would somewhat dilute my other scores and stats. Should I ask my English teacher for a rec to offset my disappointing essay score?

8 is nothing to worry about. The grading is very subjective and the time limit is crazy, which colleges realize. As long as you get a 7-8 or above, I don’t think colleges give it more than a second’s glance. That’s something you could ask if you visit the schools though, which you should do anyways. High grades in honors/AP English classes are much more important!

Thanks a bunch! I’m feeling better now, but I can’t ask the schools since I already visited MIT and Pton and Caltech is not a feasible visit. I’m sorry if I came off as humble-bragging. I know 8 is a good score, I just didn’t know if relatively speaking it could hurt me.
