Will you buy an electric or hybrid car next?

My brother says he’ll buy a Taycan as soon as they augment the range.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a CT4-V (an old-fashioned ICE car) on order for six months with no word from the factory about when my car would come up in the queue. One dealer never answered emails about the car’s status, and another sent me an update every week. I finally gave up and bought another car off a dealer’s lot.

But an EV can’t be judged on just range alone IMO.

The Porsche has bold styling, sports car handling, it’s beautifully finished, inside and out and it makes really neat EV sound(s). Sound, very important!

Yeah - that’s too bad. CT4-V looks fun!

Sure it can, if that’s an important enough issue for you, which is why I said to each their own.

For example, I would also disqualify a car that only could go 65 MPH, even if everything else was awesome. Because that would be a showstopper issue.

For me, range is too. Especially considering stated range is usually a best case scenario (or near it) and I should expect dramatically worse range in the winter in the NE, etc. the vehicle simply wouldn’t get me where I want to go conveniently and there are others that would. At that price, why settle for second class range?

i would say I have typically excluded cars based on a single issue even before EV’s. I recall shopping for an SUV years ago trying all the brands and when I got to Buick they said they have no feature at the time for talking on your phone using the car mic and speaker. I said no thanks and skipped the test drive. It was a showstopping feature. Dealer couldn’t believe I would walk over that but then Buick was definitely behind the trend and why would I want to buy something for the next decade-plus that is already out of date when I buy it?

It is planned obsolescence. The tech will recommend a new fob that will magically pair with the car. BTDT… That’s a money maker.

I ended up buying a CT4 Blackwing (oddly, Caddy dealerships have loads of Blackwings, but no CT4-Vs, a lower performance variant), and it is a blast. Basically, it’s a US version of the BMW 3 series that handles far better.

And as I said, IMO.

I’m not a buyer of a car solely for the mileage, range or being the quietest. I never have been. Those attributes are down near the bottom for ME. Literally, YMMV.

If it’s ugly, then you can’t put a “bowtie on a pig.” IMO

Amen. We hesitated to buy a new Lexus because the grill is butt ugly! Hope their EV version will not have that giant bug catcher (my Mr.’s words) on the front.

We were less concerned with the cost of the fob than the utter and total lack of customer service at Tesla. If we had the same problem with a Ford, we could make an appointment, drive 10 minutes to our local dealer and wait 10 minutes while they replaced and linked the new unit.

Amen to that! I love Toyotas, but that Lexus grill mouth looks like the Predator from the movie. Yuk. Until Lexus changes that front end, I can’t consider it either. Some people obviously love it.

It is a PITA. My husband once angrily drove to the tech center (a few miles away from the house) when the app chat would give him a runaround - it was about a failed lock on the driver’s side door- and asked the techs to try to get in the car. That got some attention. Service definitely isn’t there.

We use a phone app to get into the gym. That phone app drives everyone crazy. Give me an old key fob anyday.

Yes I am aware, as that’s what our S has. The phone app has a ton of features too- in fact more than I knew about, but happened to watch a utube video and found them!

I got my Tesla b/c I couldn’t stand the Darth Vader grills on the newer lexus crossovers. Best decision I ever made.

Wow! Blackwing is amazing. See, everything happens for a reason . . .

Though GM has announced that the next generation Blackwings are going to be electric. Get them while you can. Do a search on Cadillac’s website for dealer stock and there are many ICE BWs to be had, and at MSRP.

Been driving non-Tesla EVs for 7 years now and I don’t find this statement to be true in my experience. Probably have 150,000 EV miles under my belt at this point with numerous road trips. Current car has 90K+ on the odometer. It’s a Chevy Bolt. Before that we had a Nissan Leaf.

Incorrect. I have no prob with the CCS. Don’t need two hands. That’s silly.
