USF gave you free tuition? Or free tuition, room, & board…what exactly did USF give you?
What do you mean by “bit of a gap” with W?? What did W give you?
and why would you be a physics premed? Yes, you can be anything and be premed, but why Physics? Are you especially strong in P?
USF would be approx 6k a year, while Willamette. 21k
Yes, very strong in Physics
Just trying to figure out which is better for premed, cost aside. Wondering if there will be as many research opportunities at a larger school like USF
D17 is planning to be biology major/chem minor pre-med. She was also accepted at USF and Willamette. I can’t say much about USF-we weren’t able to visit and never looked into it too closely. Their low rate of freshman returning for sophomore year and their low 4 year graduation rate were turn-offs.
I can say Willamette has really good research opportunities, from what we can tell. It’s also adjacent to the Salem Hospital which has part-time job and internship opportunities. They have a student EMT service. The faculty seem very supportive and and accessible. We really like the way the science building was designed to have common areas just outside each professor’s office to encourage interaction between students and professors. D thinks Willamette will provide everything she needs to succeed in her medical school apps. She has committed to Willamette.
Which school do you think you can get the highest GPA at? GPA is very important for med school admission. Med school is expensive. Do you think Willamette would make you enough more competitive to justify spending $15,000 more per year, $60,000 more total?
