Hey guys,
I got placed in Willard RC, and even though there's nothing I can do about it now, I'd like to hear some of your opinions. First off, I'm an incoming freshman majoring in econ, and Willard was my third choice behind Elder and Allison. I've heard some very good things about Willard, such as the strong sense of community and rich tradition. Recently, however, I heard that Willard residents are very insular and anti-social compared to Allison/Elder/Bobb residents. As a fairly social person that enjoys partying will I enjoy Willard? Also, is it harder to rush as a freshman on south campus? Thanks.

Dude, most people who get into Willard seem to feel super lucky cause its their first choice. I put Willard first and didnt get it, but am happy with my placement.
I’ve only heard good things about it though…I heard somewhere that it gets the most top picks or something like that.

Agreeing with Cascadian. I’ve only heard good things about Willard. Huge rooms, good dining hall, VERY social people. The alum from my school raved about how great the people are in Willard. It’s multi-thematic and it’s a varied selection of people, so you’ll meet a lot of different and outgoing people. Since you already noted that there is a strong sense of community, I’m not sure how the dorm can also be classified as “anti-social”.

Some people are just anti-Res Colleges, and assume that everyone in them is anti-social. That is definitely not the case, and I think you will like Willard!

rm1234, i’m also in willard. I initially was really pumped that I got in, but then as I thought more about it I realized that I don’t really fit (for the most part) the “Willard-type”- artsy or theater major. I’m sure it’ll be decent probably won’t be as fun as Elder, Bobb, or Allison; for anyone else-- do alot of guys rush from Willard? Also, Cascadian what dorm are you in?

Seeplymouth - the kid I knew was a Communication Sciences major, and his roommate an RTVF major. It’s not just artsy types. It’s a totally multi-thematic place, so for sure you will find someone who isn’t the ‘artsy’ or ‘theater major’ type. It’s not like you guys are in Jones or CRC (my personal choice). =P
