I live pretty far from Williams and I was wondering if their interviews are evaluative or just more like one-on-one information sessions?
Interviews at Williams are not evaluative, and most people don’t do them.
I’m 99% sure that Williams doesn’t even have interviews.
We do, but they’re mostly done for legacies.
I was told by a Williams admissions officer that Williams doesn’t do interviews. Maybe they make exceptions for legacies or something but their public stance is definitely that they don’t do them.
A quote from the alumni children admissions webpage:
“We don’t conduct interviews in the traditional sense. A prospective student may have a half-hour conversation with an admission counselor, but it’s not required. These conversations are not evaluative and have no impact on an admission decision. Spaces are limited (June 1 through August 31 only) and appointments must be made in advance by calling the Admission Office”
