Which of the two do most Williams students prefer?

both WSB and banknorth have branches on campus. If you live in the frosh quad, banknorth is closer. If you live in mission, WSB is closer. your pick.

WSB has an ATM in Paresky and another on Spring Street. Banknorth's closest ATM is at their Spring Street branch.

Banknorth would be preferable if you live in the Northeast/New England area because they have branches beyond Williamstown. WSB obviously is limited to the Williamstown area. Banknorth is a regional bank, so, you'll have more access (without fees) outside Williamstown.

The distance differences between Mission/FQ and the banks are minor at best, and offset by the WSB ATM in Paresky, so don't pick your bank based on where you're living freshman year. If anything, base it on your cluster: Currier and Dodd to WSB, and Wood and Spencer to Banknorth. That'll matter for the next three years. Or just choose whichever is giving out the best free gift at the beginning of school, cause there's really not that big a difference otherwise.

I've stepped into WSB only once or twice since freshman year. I deal online and mostly with the ATM in Paresky.

Williamstown savings -you get a free mug + the staff is really nice+one of the receptionists is kinda hot+ atm at paresky

Yeah, the guys at WSB are really friendly.

in a lot of states, banknorth does a "no ATM fees" thing (Mass. doesn't, but it doesn't matter because it only takes into account the state you originally get your account in), so check a banknorth near you to see if this applies- for me, this was the best option because you can use any ATM machine, not just Banknorth-specific ones, and don't have to worry about not having a branch at home. hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for all the replies.
