Wilson

Last year a frat lived in the non-sub-free suite, so that was definitely a party suite. Otherwise...no. Far, far from it.

The thing about Wilson that you have to get used to is that it doesn't look great, but has one of the best communities on campus. Forbes, Holder in Rocky, and Wilson are really three of the most community-oriented places on campus. It has a great quad where a lot of people play frisbee and volleyball, and most people have to go through it to get to Wilcox (the main college building). The college council this past semester did a great job of throwing a lot of social events to get the college out and interacting, and certainly the fact that Wilson has a ton of big suites (and even the big quads in '27-Clapp) adds a lot of social activity to the college. I definitely don't regret living there for frosh and soph years. Definitely gave me a unique living experience on campus.

I got placed in Clapp with 3 roommates. Sweet!

I lived in Wilson last year and will be doing so again this year. I live in Dodge Osborn. Wilson's a really great college to be in because there's a real sense of community. It's one of the bigger colleges and hosts lots of fun events throughout the year. On top of that, we're in the best location on campus. Everyone in other colleges are always jealous, esp those sad kids in forbes who have to walk the few extra miles in the snow! =) Although DO is sub-free, lots of people still participate in party life. The key is, go drink in your friends' room. Who wants to party alone anyway? So if you're in DO next year, swing by 115 and say hi. I can help you move in too since i'm working OA and will be there from Aug 27th until school starts.

Random questions:
What kind of floors does 1937 Hall have? (hardwood, etc.)
Should we bring a message board for outside the room or will it have it already? (I know this varies from building to building)

Non-Wilson-related: Is it worthwhile renting a water cooler from the Student Rental Agency? My roommates and I are considering doing this. How about a TV? Are they actually OK quality or is it just a total rip-off?

water cooler: yes definitely
tv: just go get your own, you've got 4 years get one you're sure about, there's a Best Buy or something nearby...

1939... with 1 roomie, first floor.. hmm
the picture really disappointed me a bit but I like the idea of "wonderful community" :) ppl are more important than stones lol

My dear puppies,

Wilson rocks.

Yeah, Wilson is pretty fun. I lived in a 8-person suite last year (in 1937 hall) and we had a blast. Collectively, Wilson isn't as pretty as Rocky/Whitman or some other places on campus, however, Walker has cool architecture and 1927/Clapp is really nice.

tiger011: My suite had hardwood floors, and we bought our own message boards (there were no message boards when we got there).
