Window Essay

what did everyone write about?

I wrote about looking out of an airplane window- how the sight of clouds, etc is so familiar to me and then I proceeded to talk about how my travel experiences shaped my views.

How long was yours? And everyone else’s?

^300 words duh

Why were you rude? Many applicants exceed the word limits.

haha the "duh’ wasnt intended to be rude, relax. mine was like 310 words

The Internet sometimes doesn’t relay sarcasm very well. My response was a bit knee-jerk, though.

I went a little crazy on mine. It’s all about how my world view filters everything I perceive and how the lens itself has developed. It goes into Kant, nature of reality, euler’s equation and much more. Probably coz i wrote it right after chicago…

Mine is 340 right now (don’t worry, I’ll cut it down to a maximum of 330 words, probably). It talked about my advocacy, and the irony of my first run-in with the police occurring while I was fighting (in a civil manner, mind you) for human/gay rights.

^that sounds amazing!

Haha, it was fun to write! I’d be happy to trade with you. =]

I got no idea so I wrote about Scouts and how important for me they were (and are).

yeah…I’m not sure mine’s worthy of trade ;)

Haha, as if mine is? I don’t think it even satisfies the prompt, but hey. :)

yeah no I would be embarrassed to share…it’s not terrible writing but the message is rather cliche

Good to see that I’m not the only one who didn’t know what to write…
I’ve already posted my essay on essayforum . com, so if you want to raise your confidence you check it out, because it is really bad. Well, the latest version is not so bad as that one, but it’s still one of weaker parts of my application.

^whats yours about?

I already mentioned it few posts higher - Scouts (looking through bus window at our favorite camping site). I know it’s not a great topic, but I really did not know what to write about.

I, too, posted mine on EssayForum. Same screenname of course…feel free to check it out and rip it apart before January 1st. =]

I liked mine, though the topic wasn’t amazing like any of yours. It was a simple, heartfelt piece (and I took some liberties with the prompt) of me sitting at the windowsill of my childhood home and looking both inside and outside the house and remembering the people that influenced me. I made it beyond hypothetical, though, I was actually sitting in the home and get off the windowsill in the end to go eat breakfast with my grandparents again. It’s ~350 words.

so is it okay if essay exceeds 300 words?
mine is 305 right now
