Winter 2011- Transfers Accepted/Denied/Pending?

I got my “conditional” acceptance letter today, but no packet. College transfer.

So my unofficial transcript hasn’t loaded… yet. Is this basically a bad sign?

Also where is everyone transferring from? I’m transferring from a 4 year university.

I submitted my application online on the last day, haven’t heard back yet. I have an AA from BCC, but attended one other community college and university. GPA is around 3.4… I am nervous!

Can the people who were accepted already post their GPAs and intended majors? UW stresses preparation for intended major.

I applied to Sociology, but the only pre-req is offered by UW (no CC equivalency) so I don’t know how that will look.

Also, do they wait-list transfers? I haven’t heard of that.

I got in with a 3.8 from a CC. I will finish my AA this quarter. I plan on majoring in Business Administration

I have a 3.92 from a CC and will also finish my AA this quarter. I plan on majoring in sociology (btw to h1dden: one of the prereq’s you can do outside of UW. In addition to Soc 300 you need any Soc 5 credit class. Also, I went ahead and did my statistics now since I will need it to graduate for the sociology degree)

also, fmjakhilles: what is a conditional acceptance

I was able to load my unofficial transcript, but my status never changed from “We have received…” I loaded it by clicking on Financial Aid on the “Quick Links” and at the top it has links to a lot of things; I saw “Unofficial Transcript” and it worked… but is this the same ones you all are talking about?

Please help =/

kawaiixsarang, If your unofficial transcript has loaded, I’m pretty sure that means you’re in.

This is really making me nervous, I’m so jealous of you guys!

iloveudub, are you applying as a Freshman or a Transfer???
What are your stats??? Maybe you just have to wait it out…
I’m still unsure of my status… =( The letter will be the real confirmation…

I’m applying as a Transfer. I have about a 3.8 GPA and I’m transferring from an in-state 4 year university. What about you?

I applied as a Freshman… with a 3.98 GPA and did College in the High School since I’m from Japan… but I honestly don’t think that unofficial transcript thing applies to me. I wonder how long it’s been there… o_O"

Ohhh, and my status hasn’t changed from “We have received your…”
Others got the unofficial transcript AND the status to change to “We have reviewed…” =/

Actually, I can’t believe I forgot that but I did do the one pre-req! I just did it two years ago. Good move on the stats… wish I thought of that.

Last comment was for travelgirl. Can you tell me more about your stats and what your essay was about? Just curious. I’m considering reapplying and also taking the pre-req as a nonmatriculated student if I don’t get in (UW is really the only place I’m interested in going, even if it means waiting a bit).

I got my letter today! I live in Issaquah and it arrived two days after my unofficial transcript loaded. So nice to finally get the good note from Philip Ballinger (I’ve gotten two bad ones already).

Congratulations to everyone whose unofficial transcripts loaded and are about to receive a letter and good luck to those of you whose transcripts still haven’t loaded…yet ;)

This is your third time applying? Can you tell us your story about that and your stats?

(I’m sorry I am such an eager beaver, I’m just so nervous and already applied one other time too!)

It’s awesome so many people have got accepted. I think i got lucky cause this was my first time applying and i only had a 3.3, but did get my AA through running start so i think that helped me get accepted. Good luck to everyone who is still questioning if they got in.

h1ddden, this was my second time applying but I appealed the first one, so two negative letters.

High school gpa: 3.21
College gpa: 3.30
(In the last quarter at BC I got a 4.0, and it’s not like I took slacker classes or anything…maybe one music appreciation class  )
SAT: 2050
major: Physics

I graduated high school in June 2010 with my AA degree from running start. I had applied for freshman admission for fall 2010 and then appealed it when I got rejected because the UW was really my only interest. I got this scholarship for full tuition equal to UW’s tuition for 180 credits as long as I stay in state and I wanted to take advantage of it. WSU didn’t really do it for me, so I decided to keep trying for UW.

A funny thing happened though. I thought that since I hadn’t taken any college courses post-high school I should still apply as a freshman. I wrote the best essay of my life on the freshman application and submitted it on Sep. 14. A few weeks later an admissions officer contacted me and asked me to supplement my application with the personal statement from the transfer application so I whipped up an essay as soon as possible and hoped that they would primarily consider the essay and activities on my freshman application.

I’m a little surprised that my transfer application was accepted. My GPA is low and I need at least two quarters to enter my major because I was busy filling out high school credit requirements my first year of running start. My activities list was three items long. I put down tutoring, independent intellectual development (working through higher level math and physics books to bridge the summer and fall after graduating high school), and community service. They may not seem like such amazing things but they’re very important to me and I made that evident in the log. And, like I said, in my opinion my essay was solid.

So! Lo and behold, my snowball of an application made it through the hell of admissions. Not that admissions is in any way evil of course, just for the sake of the metaphor. I’m so happy to finally be a husky!

Congratulations, Seepheroth!!! Sounds like a stressful experience that has turned out for the best! I’m with you on the freshman application though- that is strange they would want the transfer app if you didn’t take college level classes past high school! Nice work on the “independent intellectual development”

I got my acceptance letter & packet today! woo hoo
congrats to sepheeroth and others who got in!

(disappointed to find out the measles vaccination stuff though. I had mine when I was young but no longer have the paperwork and have no way of getting it. So now I have to go to the doctor to get my blood drawn to proof i have measles antibodies built up before I can sign up for the orientation, etc. It’s a small price to pay over the long run. I just wished they had mentioned this before)

I believe one (or more) of you had questions for me…tonight or tomorrow I’ll respond. I just wanted to post that I got my packet and all that jazz before I ran off to dinner. Congrats to everyone who got in!

My unofficial transcript says page cannot be displayed. Does that mean I’m rejected. Btw i am an out of state student
