Winter Break Internships: Do I begin the search now?

I believe the title says it all:
As a rising Sophomore, I really want an internship this December. I was going to take something this summer but family plans intervenned.
Anyway, does anyone know as to when I shoudl begin this search?
Resources?

Thanks.

Start getting in contact with firms and companies. What field are you looking at?

What are winter break internships? How do they work? Are they common? Are there companies with special programs for these? o.O I’ve never heard of winter internships, which I find surprising, since my sister just went through Penn, which I thought was just about the most pre-professional college around.

never heard of a winter break internship! it’s gonna be over like one month, plus they’ll have time off for xmas new years.

Try something local.

Agree with theyoungboi. But if you want, u can look into some internships overseas where they don’t celebrate Xmas. check out AIESEC.com for international internships

There are Winter internships, usually for accounting firms, but these are January-mid Spring and require you to miss the semester usually.

I had a winter internship at the smithsonian’s air and space museum but only lasted three weeks since my break was only three weeks.

now of your school is on the quarter system, obviously you have more flexibility. from my experience, winter internships arent posted yet. that’s relative though, dependent on which companies youre looking at. at the smithsonian, they didnt open winter internships until early fall.
