Winter ED or Regular Decision?

If you mean that your sibling will also be in college 2 years from now then that will factor into your FA in 2 years, but not now. It seems from what you’re saying that you may not get any FA for your first 2 years (if parents can afford it & don’t have any other college tuitions to pay), but it’s worth applying for it anyway.

^^
My sibling will enter college when I am a senior in college. So my financial situation will change for my last year. I talked to a friend who attends Swat now and he gave me this link: [Best Value Colleges for 2010 and how they were chosen - USATODAY.com](http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/best-value-colleges.htm)

I think that it’s pretty awesome for Swat to be no. 1 in terms of best value!

^^
Yes, that’s awesome, but it doesn’t mean that if your parents can afford Swat that you’ll get FA anyway. When S was a student at Swat, we never qualified for FA (other than loans). Having said that, we were still satisfied with his Swat education.

^
Does your son have a lot of student loans to pay off?

Try running Amherst’s calculator with 2 children in college and parental assets minus 3 years of Swat tuition. Keep in mind that your sibling may not be able to get into a meets-full-need school, or an equally generous school; but this is not something that you can plan for in RD versus EDII, unless you are willing to forgo the opportunity entirely and attend a lower-tier school on merit aid.

Fortunately, he does not have alot of loans.

Could anyone explain what’s the difference between ED2 and RD in terms of financial aid?
I’m an international students with income low enough to need a full ride. I know they won’t accept me unless they have funds/think I’m worthy to get a full ride. So how should I apply to increase my chances?

^If you are willing to commit to Swarthmore and have run the numbers for FA, then EDII would be your best shot.
