My daughter will be going to school in Boston in the fall and being from South Florida, she is a little light on cold weather attire. She has a Northface Denali jacket, wool pea coat, Uggs, rain boots, jeans and hoodies. Any suggestions for useful Christmas gifts?

Hat? Gloves? Scarf? Hand/toe warmers? Leggings? Warm socks? Sweaters?

A puffy down coat. When it’s snowing, sometimes a peacoat can be a little lacking.

Definitely want some long underwear inside of those jeans. Also, a few pairs of really warm socks could replace the need for boots that are good for snow if she isn’t much of an outdoors person.

Smartwool socks!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! Do kids prefer long underwear under jeans or leggings? When she visited earlier this month, she just wore leggings under her jeans. But silk long underwear sounds like a great gift idea to pass along to the relatives, as does Smartwool socks.

Fishymom, there’s a similar thread in the Parent Cafe http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/1034831-what-jacket-midwest-winter.html you may want to read.

Thanks farfallena!

I prefer silk long underwear, but so far as I know most girls just wear leggings. They make socks out of the same material which are really nice, too.
