Wisdom Teeth

I went to the dentist the other day, and he said that my wisdom teeth should be removed when my senior year is done and they've grown in. My friend, however, is getting them out this week and hers haven't emerged yet. She said that the dentist told her it was better if the roots weren't grown in. I thought this was interesting. What has your dentist told you all? And if anyone has already gotten them out, how painful did you find it to be?

Mine were removed last year. One was just starting to emerge and was not growing in straight. I’m not sure if the dentist said anything about when the best time to remove them would be, but knowing that I already had 4 teeth pulled when I got braces, I knew they would have to come out sooner or later. As it was over the summer, the timing worked out

The surgery was fine; the aftermath was much more painful than I anticipated, but only lasted a couple of days. Painkillers are your friend in this case.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out last year, with general anesthesia. One of the top ones had emerged. It wasn’t particularly bloody or painful as far as I remember, although I was scared to brush my teeth and avoided it for a few days (it was summer).
