With your stats-five schools are not enough. You might possibly receive merit aid from other schools-I would apply to those as well as reaches-ivies.
Good luck to you.

Thank you so much parents! I definately do need some match and safety schools. This summer I'm visiting family in D.C. and Boston, and I will be able to see many of the schools I'm interested in applying to then.

Washington U. looks fantastic! It's a little out of the way, but my parents say I might be able to see it. I also like Emory, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Claremont McKenna, and so many others that are a little less selective. In fact, some have atmospheres that seem to be a better "fit" than my reaches! I feel I have a better perspective on the whole crazy, illogical process. I'm still looking for potential safeties, but I still have a while (I'm finishing sophomore year).

I will take the PSAT in the fall, no matter how far I have to drive! By the way, does anyone know where I can find the cutoffs for different states?

I have also started to research scholarships. By the way, the merit aid thread is tremendously helpful. A big thank you to all who contributed!

Also, what does PM mean?

There is a link on CC to the data. go to the SAT discussion and do a search.

My D is '09 at Harvard this year from Jackson Hole HS. She was highly sought after. You have a good start, but you must continue it.
You need to continue to work on your ECs, with the question in mind "what did I accomplish with this position". Being president is not much of an accomplishment if all you did was hold the title.
You need to spend this summer on fastweb.com looking at scholarships. It starts now, not next summer.
Start working on practice essays and get critiques.
For Econ add UChicago.
For engineering and medicine add Rice.

Seriously consider applying as an Emory Scholar. This could get you some serious merit aid. Your school will have to nominate you. Their undergrad business was recently ranked 5th in the nation.

Also consider U Rochester. You'll have to get your application in earlier than the regular deadline to be considered for merit money. (I think it was December 1 last year.) Show serious interest to them and you stand a shot at interviewing for a full tuition scholarship.
