Withdrawal from Ucla and Application to other College

Hello, I am an freshman registered in Fall quarter at UCLA and the academics for a student in the school of Engineering are proving to be too challenging for me especially with their grade curve policy. My grades are flunking, I dislike the “living on campus experience” and I don’t really see a way through the next four years as a CSE major other than a way out so would it be possible to withdraw from this University to start on a new leaf at another college? What about for other UC campuses? Would I still be considered a freshman applicant if I withdraw from college with no credits completed? Could I wait till next year and try again at another UC campus, ie, UC Irivine. I have asked around but no one has given me clear responses… I’ve emailed UCI admissions and they have yet to answer me.

Thanks much for any info.

Yes, you’ll be fine. There’s no formal withdrawal process, just drop all your classes, end your housing contract, and stop coming to school. I’d suggest you do this before filling up your record with F’s. Follow up with an adviser if you want to be sure. I would strongly recommend going to a community college near home and regain your confidence in your academic ability. Then apply to UCI after 2 years, and I’m 99% sure you’ll get in if you put in quarter of the effort you did to get into UCLA.

Your situation is totally understandable, take a few steps back while at CC and relax for a bit, take however many classes a semester that you feel comfortable with. Your stress and debt levels will stop rising as your degree completes itself. You’ll enter UCI halfway to the finish line, and be in a far more comfortable state, mentally and in an environment closer to home. Best of luck, let me know if you have any further doubts. A Trojan will always look out for a fallen Bruin

Thank you @epicer and everyone else who commented on my other posts for the advice, I really appreciate the time it took to write things and think about my predicament
