Hi!
For the most part, I haven’t been able to find any consistent information about the average ACT scores for Rutgers. When I went to visit the college, I was told it was between 22-29, and online I’ve heard that the average score is 30.
I’ve taken it twice so far, and the highest score I have is a 29. Does this put me in a “safe zone” so to speak when applying?
My scores (first/second time)

Science:24/30
I’m thinking about taking it again, but I really don’t think my score will increase that dramatically at this point. Do you think I should take it again? I’m planning on applying to Rutgers NB (SEBS).
According to the Fall 2015 midranges (http://admissions.rutgers.edu/pdfs/Fall_MidrangesChart2015.pdf) the midrange of ACT scores at SEBS is 25-31. This means that the median ACT score at SEBS is a 28, putting your 29 at the 58th percentile.
If I was in your situation, I would definitely take the ACT one more time. Last year, I found myself in a similar predicament. I had scored a 31 on the ACT in September 2015, but that was only 25th percentile for Rutgers Pharmacy. However, I used my spring break, the week before the April 2016 test, to study for the ACT, taking one full test a day for the entire week. My resulting score in April 2016 was a 34, 75th percentile for pharmacy. When I applied this fall, I didn’t even bother submitting my September ACT score, and was admitted to the pharmacy program on December 15, the first day admissions were released.
What I would recommend you to do is to sign up for the September 2017 test, purchase a couple ACT practice test books, and for the last two weeks of your summer vacation leading up to the test, take a full practice test every day to train yourself for taking the test. I’d shoot for a 31, because that’s 75th percentile. And who knows, if you go all out you prepping you might even score higher than you think you can.
ACT average: 25
I applied for SAS and I did get accepted.
