Wondering about the social life at Fordham University in New York City...?

Hi guys! I hope that this finds you well. I was just hoping that some of your could answer a couple questions I have about Fordham University at Lincoln Park. I had never heard of the school before, but yesterday I got an email from the university and it seems like a really cool place (being in New York City, the programs it has to offer, etc). However, I noticed that Fordham University is called a “Jesuit University,” and so I was wondering about how religious it is…?

I’m not particularly a religious person, and so I am trying to find out if the school would be a good fit for me. Do students have to take certain religion-based courses? Are most students at the school religious? Would not being religious affect my social life at the school?, etc.

If you guys could help me out, I would really appreciate the advice! Thank you!

First off it is the Lincoln Center (not Lincoln Park) campus. The campus is in the heart of Manhattan. My S graduated from Fordham’s other campus (Rose Hill, a more traditional campus in the Bronx) a few years ago. My opinion is that you don’t need to be Catholic, you don’t need to be religious to be happy and comfortable at Fordham. The Jesuits are educators first and foremost and do not try to push religion on anyone. That said, IMO you do have to be comfortable seeing some religious symbols on campus, you should be respectful of religion, and you will have to take 2 theology and 2 philosophy courses (or that was the requirement when my S attended – you can google Fordham’s core curriculum and find out if it is still the case).

@happy1 thank you for your response! I really appreciate it!
