Woooooo!!!COLUMBIA. YEAH!

For such a great school, great city, and vibrant students, it seems like this board is a little dead.

COLUMBIA KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please let me get in!!!!!!

Columbia does rule!!

CC '09!!!!!

Yay columbia!

Yeah this board's been kind of dead in comparison with the other ivy boards. Cornell's new found mission is to beat Upenn in # of posts now that it has already surpassed us (only a difference of 30 now).

King, the chief reason that this board is kind of dead is due to the Great December ED Massacre of 2004. Even though it is still fresh in my mind...the moderators did a fine job at removing all the posts/threads of the previous months...

This board will be alive again once April kicks in. ;)

Columbia '09!!!

The massacre? Do tell. There will be a huge surge within the next 3 weeks, naturally.

Well, thethoughtprocess, if I could remember clearly, the ED round had about some "registered" (meaning they registered in the "Offical ED Roster" Thread) 40~50 very interesting individuals, roughly 35 CC and 15 SEAS applicants.

Out of those 50, only about 5~6 were accepted to the college, and about 8 or so to SEAS. In comparision with college rankings, it might've seemed normal, but Collegeconfidential users has a long history of having MUCH higher acceptance rates than the average applicant.

Since then, there is few ED posters that comes to this board to post and boost morale except for maybe for me, Jaug1, thomaschau, and a few others.

But either way, to end my rant, I hope you're right about the surge, and that people will become passionate again once the time is right.

wellllllllllll i use to loooveeeeeee the columbia board but it was getting realllllly dead.....GRRRRRRRRR........hiiiiiiiiiii ppl........GOOD LUCK EVERYONE..OMG......SCARED.....!!!!!!how many more days?

So it's by e-mail on thursday, March 31, right?

I heard April 1, but it makes more sense to have March 31 since that's what all the ivies seem to be doing.

In the ED round, the set date was on a Friday (like April 1st), but most of us received a decision past 5 p.m. on Thursday.

So yeah, you would probably be able to get the decision on the afternoon of March 31st.

Ahh just like my other schools. >.< That's going to be one nervewracking afternoon.

nervewracking doesn't sum it up. can you imagine everyone asking each other about decisions the next day at school?

luckily, I'll be on spring break, so not only will i be able to sit by the computer all day, I get an extra day to recover..then back to school monday will be pretty chaotic

If you get in, it'll be glorious rather than nervewracking. You'll get hugs instead of questions because everyone will already know by the time you get to school the next day.

I definitely think that the whole ED thing has to do with the lack of enthusiasm. This board used to be so busy back in november/december, because people were interested in Columbia more than any other school. After people were rejected, of course they wouldn't want to come back. And people that were deferred had to go out and find new schools to like. There probably will be more action in the coming weeks, but if the decisions are as harsh as they were in december, it won't all be positive.

Was ED especially harsh because Columbia was cutting back on ED acceptances? I hope that means they'll be better RD

it was said to be the toughest year ever for ED, and they were trying to react to criticism of ED schools for reserving too many places early decision

well i'm sure deferrees will still have better chances.

I think it had to do with the fact that more people are applying to school in general- that's what you get for being the children of the baby boomers. Since they have more applicants, but not more spaces, they have to be more selective. Sucks pretty bad.
