Wording of a graduation announcement?

I'll be receiving my BA from Cal in a bit over a month now. The people I want to come -- close family and friends -- are already aware and informed of the details. I don't need or want gifts from any of them.

However, I really think it's the kind of thing I want to "celebrate" formally by way of official graduation announcements/invitations. I also want to update my more distant (geographically, anyway!) relatives on what's happening with me without straying into the family letter a la Christmas territory.

I'm at a loss for how to word them. I am not comfortable with the "I'm proud of myself, come see me walk the stage!" type of message, but I don't particularly want a simple list of the what, date, time and location. I also don't have anything in particular to tell them I'm moving on to -- I don't have a job lined up and I'm not continuing my education at the moment.

I do want to send a copy of the graduation photos I'll be taking, so that's a given inclusion. I'm just not sure how to "announce" this in a tasteful way.

Any suggestions?

For the family we were inviting to the graduation (we only had 6 tickets)…we used the formal university graduation announcements. For others (after the fact), DS sent a very nice email with graduation picture telling the family and friends that he had gotten his degree, and also told them about his after graduation plans (he had good summer plans and grad school to discuss). Folks were happy to have a “newsy” update. I think the folks who sent gifts would have sent them anyway!! But he sent the same announcement with pic to both friends and family…newsy newsletter. And he had fun writing it. He also included the highlights of his senior year.
