<p>Don’t readjust your diction to the admissions officer’s liking. Be yourself. How many times have this been said on CC? If you would say “hobo” in real life, say it in the essay.</p>
<p>Yeah, but if you were to say “piece of $#!t” in real life, would you say that in a college essay?
Some things are better to avoid.
Hobo is, imo, borderline presumptuous, but I guess it depends.</p>
