Hi everyone, my daughter is trying to choose between Bryn Mawr and Scripps. She has visited both schools for their “Accepted Students” events, and is equally impressed by both in terms of their beautiful campuses, rigorous academics, great student organizations, etc. What the decision will come down to is student culture – that is, which school has a better balance in terms of study and recreation, or work and fun. My daughter definitely isn’t expecting or wanting a party school, but she also wants a place where her classmates look at college holistically – not focusing so exclusively on academics and pre-professional endeavors that they rarely hang out, spend time outdoors, have adventures, and just plain have fun. She’s been through four years at an unhealthily intense high school, and doesn’t want that for college. Any advice on comparing these two schools in terms of work/life balance?
