Work Study jobs

What are the chances of a student getting a work-study job without having work study?
Sometimes the work study jobs are also listed on CalJobs without specifications of being workstudy (but I only know they are because I've also looked on the workstudy website), making it so everyone could apply. Are our chances dramatically lowered if we don't have work study or do we have 0% chance?

That was really convoluted, sorry lol.

I think the jobs listed on CalJobs without specifications of being workstudy will take non-workstudy students, but probably prefer workstudy students so you’ll get the job if no qualified workstudy students apply for it… But jobs listed only under work study are pretty much limited to the workstudy students.

I see. Thanks for the quick response!
Is the only way to get work study through submitting a FAFSA report? :(

The amount of work-study you have is in your financial aid package, if you are eligible for it. Otherwise it will not show up in your financial aid summary.

Listings on workstudy.berkeley.edu will accept Work-Study only; CalJobs is a crapshoot.

The perks with workstudy applicants is that the school will pay 1/2 of the wage while the department pays 1/2 [so it’s cheaper]. However, if you can convince the department that you are worth more, then I believe you can still get the job. However, I don’t believe you will have access to workstudy listings, so that may be an issue.
