I'm an incoming freshmen at the university, and I was told that I should apply for work-study applications at the beginning of August. I've been monitoring the website for available positions, but there are a small number of them and many are still asking for summer workers or are from the 2013-2014 academic year. Am I missing something here? I'd like to start working as soon as possible. Any advice would be great. Thank you!

A lot of us that will need work-study students in the fall are currently looking at our budgets, trying to figure out who is staying on and who isn’t, and will be posting jobs in the next week or two. I’d be patient but apply to any that seem interesting as they come up.

Just out of curiosity, you are using this site: https://www.studentemployment.umich.edu/ correct? I just did a search and it seems that there are quite a few already looking for fall positions.
