Work Study

Does anyone have any experience with the work study at Rutgers? I got offered $2,000 and I'd like to know if the $2,000 is firm or if that's just an estimate and it will vary based on the job and hours worked. Also about how much would I have to work and how flexible are the hours? I was just wondering if this would be easy money or if I'd have to work hard for it. I've been working since I was 13 and I'd like Rutgers to be my vacation for the next two years, but if it's an easy $2000 why not?

$2000.00 seems to be the standard amount (max) in my experience, $1,000 per semester but you do have to apply for one of these jobs (through the financial award site) and be placed. Some kids got awarded work study, but applied late and got no job. You can always get a regular job, but they may not work around your schedule as much as those that have the work/study positions. They definitely will work around your schedule and if you are at a entry level position you will likely work 10 hours a week. More experience higher pay grade less hours. They will stop paying you once you reach your limit for that semester. Do you have to work hard for this money, I have heard that many students do not. If you do show a good work ethic you will be in the minority but will SHINE LIKE A STAR over all the slackers. Alot of the Deans and Professional Staff at Rutgers have connections, so for all those that thought they earned an easy buck by doing little work, they really paid a much bigger price for being lazy

Thank you!
