I am such a college-noob ><
For work study, what kind of jobs do people usually get--hopefully research related?

(I was admitted into SEAS)

it will most likely not be research related...there will be very few if any professors that are willing to pay undergrads, let alone a freshman, to do research

For Work-Study at CC, my friend's a receptionist at the Political Science department. Usually the work you get is related to your major.

ok, that's cool

im assuming its not like weird stuff like the babysitting and bartending at barnard

True. If a professor is going to pay you, it's going to be grunt-work -- like cleaning dishes in the bio lab -- and not research. There's no reason a prof needs to use his research funding to pay ugrads when they'll work for free (i.e., for credit).
