Worried about 5 year obligation

marines4me: I have really enjoyed watching you from afar as you have gone through the admissions process and also your West Point experience. I do hope you will stick around, as screamingeagle has, and give us a glimpse of your graduate experience as well.
Congratulations to you and all of your classmates - I wish you all everything of the best!

Thanks Ann and MomofTwins!! Graduation is quickly approaching, and I’m extremely excited. Just have to keep my nose clean for the next 21 days! I’ll definitely stick around the forum, though I don’t know how much I’ll be able to offer for the first two years… Flight school times keep getting extended, so it’ll be awhile before I get to a unit. But hey, I’ll offer what I can!

Congrats M4M!! Three weeks to your graduation means three weeks until my son is a cow!! You are one of the few cadets that is still here from when I first joined CC. Good luck at flight school. :)

My apologies. Beginning with the title of this thread, Ive given everyone the wrong impression!
Let me re-explain: I have NO problem with serving! I am passionate about the military and would be willing to do my 5 year obligation and go beyond that. It is my PARENTS whose worries have caused me to be concerned and question the different aspects of the 5 year obligation.

Thanks again to everyone who posted! I have read everything and I guess that my best bet is to just simply talk with my parents about it. The military is only one of several careers I am interested in, so nothing is set in stone yet.

Parents will always worry–its our job—do what is right for you and never look back!
