worried about location?

Can anyone who has lived in Williamstown tell me a little bit about their experience? I'm a little worried about the isolation aspect of Williams.
thanks!

emchda, It’s difficult to respond to your concerns without knowing what you’re looking for in a college environment. There’s no disputing that Williamstown is a small village in a spectacularly beautiful mountain setting. For some it may be too isolated: they’d miss the city buzz, night life, wide range of restaurants and shops.

My son, who had only ever lived in mega-cities, considered Williams’ insular, rural location its best attribute. He took full advantage of outdoorsy, nature focused activities and his primary social event was hanging out with friends. He managed to get to New York or Boston once or twice each term for an urban fix, but was always glad to return to the Purple Bubble.

Williamstown is basically in the middle of nowhere. The town practically exists because of the college. But that being said, if nature-y, scenic and rural places are your kind of thing, then you would like it. Boston and New York are about a 3-ish hour long ride, so you could go to the city for a day trip or a weekend once in a while.
