Hello guys, I’m concerned about the courses I’ll be taking as a sophomore next year. Specifically, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, and Chemistry are all required subjects. In my school district, we took algebra 1 in the eighth grade, and I forgot everything in middle school, plus I barely passed Geometry in high school. Is it my imagination or are the classes really that tricky? How can I better prepare myself if it isn’t difficult?
Algebra 1/Geometry/Chemistry are all completely different ball games.
How good were you in Algebra 1? If you were a mostly A student with a few B’s, I think with some reviewing over the summer, you should be ok for Algebra 2. Trigonometry would be a little trickier, as it is more similar to Geometry (sin/cosine, etc.) If you do some reviewing of old concepts, you’ll be better prepared for the class. Try Khan Academy, they have a full list of the concepts you need to know.
No strong math skills are really necessary for Chemistry. It’s mostly arithmetics, and most classes will let you use a calculator. Just make sure you remember the concepts.
Review using Khan Academy.
