Worried

I am an 8th grader applying to 9th grade, and as I was completing some applications, I realized that I do not have a ton of academic achievements. I have never done and internships or won any academic awards. However, my grades are great and I participate in a lot of extracreliculars and sports. My SSAT scores were good, I got a 96% overall, but a 78% in the math section. Will I even be considered?

what schools are you thinking of applying to- it really depends…

I seriously don’t think boarding schools expect middle school students to have internships. Mine sure didn’t. My kids’ middle school wasn’t the type that gave out academic awards either. More important are good grades, test scores, teacher recs, and good citizenship.

Did you get 90 or 78 in Math? (Saw your other post)

You still have a chance of admission with either score but if it’s 78 that’s a slight drawback.

No one can really state your actual chances. It appears that you are in the running. Besides stats, schools also consider interviews, essays, and recommendations.

Give it your best shot!

To answer your exact question, yes you will be considered. Even if your math score is 78.

Many applicants feel the way you do… I know I did. Agree w/ doschicos on the fact that middle schoolers won’t have a ton of internships. Middle schoolers aren’t even eligible for probably 99% of internships anyway.

My advice is to look over your ECs and remember that they value quality over quantity - leadership positions/responsibility a central ‘focus’ that brings them together, rather than having a bunch of them all over the place.

Do you play any sports competitively? Would you consider any a hook/would you be an impact player on any teams at BS?
