I am a skilled writer so these won't be a problem. Update: My essays (I believe, are amazing! and so do others! I dont wanna give away my topic but it was very creative!) Everyone that has read them was amazed at how interesting and creative they were.

I really want to know if I can get into here. I am applying RD. What are my chances? I'm hoping my weaker parts like my act and rank will be overshadowed by my writing and personality that will shine through my writing. Thanks so much...and for you fellow college bounders--Good Luck!

Don’t do this to yourself. You’ve already applied (there’s nothing you can change) and, more importantly, no-one on this board that isn’t in admissions at U of C could tell you your chances. We don’t know the kind of people applying this year (42% suggests that SOMETHING is different) and we don’t know what they’re looking for this year (could be the same things as EA/previous years, or it could be different).

Just forget about your application until the decisions come out. You already have a safety you got into, you don’t need to worry.

But anyway, good luck =).

Arguably, not even UofC admissions-related folk can always predict how a decisions is going to pan out (in many cases, committee decisions, for example, are not unanimous). What you should know is that UofC is known for some of the most unconventional (or unique or erratic, depending on your point of view) admissions practices, so even if we did have complete access to your essays and your recommendations (which we do not), the fact remains that no one on this board, or even an arbitrary admissions officer, would be able to say for sure if you’ll be admitted. So, you have every reason to add more exclamation marks to the back of your title, but it’s far wiser to resign yourself to the long wait and distract yourself with something more gainful to do in the meantime.

I’m going to be honest, and biased. If the admissions game is like chess, then the statistics above are the pawns. In my opinion, your essays are the queen at play; they can move you in and out of the admitted pile more quickly than other pieces. If you lose out on your queen, you’re not nearly as likely to win the game. The question is: are you confident about your essays?

Again, just my opinion.
