Columbia was amazing. Stony Brook came close but not as good, but Stony by far surpassed my expectations. Cornell sucked. The guy took forever to answer our questions and he kept forgetting to talk into the microphone. What made things even worse, was the fast he had a power point projected for everyone to see and basically just read it to us while injecting flashy words to entertain us…

That’s really weird. I had the exact opposite experience. The student-receptionist-guy was very friendly, and the woman who headed the info session was very knowledgeable. The tour guide was some guy from Atlanta. He was amicable and provided a lot of insight into nearly everything about campus life.

I think you just got unlucky, my experience at Brown was also fantastic. I was trying to find my way to the admissions office for the tour but was having trouble because I had lost my map. A member of the geology department saw that I looked lost and walked me across campus to the admissions office, all the while giving me a mini-tour of campus and talking about what the students were like.

When I was at Rice, the receptionist was very rude and actually scolded me a few times. A class I was scheduled to sit at I guess was cancelled or something - me and a Rice student spent a long time trying to finding the classroom only to find that the room was empty and came to that conclusion. I asked if there were any other classes that I can see, she said something along the lines that I should’ve been prepared for the situation or something.

What was worse was that I had to wait there with her for an hour and a half for my host to come and pick me up. So I just scanned through all the Rice Yearbooks and spoke to some kid from Cincinnati who was with me during the tour the entire time.
