I have assessed every single college I am familiar with, and found a winner!

The College of William and Mary has the most pathetic admissions team and network that I have ever seen. I formally requested that they pull my application out last week. They were so sorry that I don't want to attend that school anymore.

My daughter and I were totally turned off by the stuffiness of the Admissions people at Barnard. They only had around 3 chairs in the waiting room so everyone had to stand. It's a shame because I'm sure the school is good but they need to learn about front end friendliness.

I got yelled at by one of the Princeton reps for starting to take my coffee drink into the info session. I wasn't impressed. Also, the young admissions rep who did the presentation on that particular day was wrong about a number of things. (I knew better from CC!)

The best is Colgate. They give you ice cream.

I went to a meeting for Yale and the woman showed up in casual clothes and didn't know what she was doing. I was wondering if she'd ever given a presentation before because she was so bad at it. The USC campus tour was the best. My tourguide even wrote me a postcard telling me he was glad I went to visit. He was so upbeat and nice that my mom loved him from the start.

To say Colgate gives you merely ice cream does not do it justice--they gave us this confection that was two huge chocolate chip cookies with ice cream sandwiched between the cookies!! Then, they gave us vouchers for lunch.

I had a great Yale tour guide! He was totally friendly and answered all of our questions. He wasn't stuffy or cold with us at all, and it definitely seemed like he knew what he was doing.

the actual stanford campus info session was awesome.

colgate's ice cream blew my mind.

the best i've seen so far though is one of the penn reps... she was at my school last year and i met her again this year at an exploring college options seminar or something. she's just hilarious and very nice.

The worst admissions experience I've had to date are as follows:

Columbia: School of General Studies

The admissions reps wouldn't answer my questions concerning the updated admissions requirements. When I contacted them about my rejection notice, they told me that Columbia GS wants straight "A" students. If I had known that beforehand, I wouldn't have applied to begin with.

University of Pennsylvania: College of General Studies

The rep. who I've spoken to was rude when I asked for feedback concerning the reasons why I was denied admission.

Howard University

The Admissions Office lost my application documents. In addition, I never received a noticed in the mail of I was admitted or not. And this was after I had to resubmit my application again. The worst experience to date!

As a result, the experience with those schools left a bad impression on my mind, which haunts me to this day.

In contrast, here is a school that surprised me the most:

Harvard University

The admissions rep. answered all of my questions concerning the Sociology dept. and the academic opportunities that the school provides. It makes want to go to Harvard even more after that. Harvard impressed me a great deal. Too bad that Harvard College is impossible to get into.

Can't visit any of the colleges (I'm international), but from e-mail experience...

Northwestern...

I sent like 5~6 e-mails (over the past few months) along with mails to HYPS, Duke, etc. They NEVER answered back... (I did get about 5 automated answer mails... haha)

Duke's awesome. They're the fastest to respond, faster than HYPS, and more helpful

I had a pretty terrible experience at NYU. They wouldn't let us bring coffee into the info session room, whereas most of the other schools I visited give out complimentary coffee. The person giving the info session too was pretty awful as well.
