Hey guys I'm currently an MBA student at a school ranked in the 50s on an extremely good scholarship - I pay about 2500 a semester. Although I have no work experience, I believe I was admitted for my good undergrad GPA and relatively high GMAT score (710). I'm about 2 months in and kind of regretting it since they continually tell us we are going to have to fight for jobs, etc.

Is it worth dropping out, waiting a few years, and going to a much higher ranked school? One thing to consider is that if I went to a higher ranked school I would most likely have to pay full tuition, which I am not here.

Keep in mind that if you drop out, when you apply for the higher ranked schools, you’ll have to explain to them why you applied in the first place. On the other side of the coin, most top schools will not accept you if you already have an MBA degree.

The situation isn’t that rosy in the higher ranked schools either. I attend an elite program and even our CMC stress on off campus job searching.

I believe you can get a job either program. However, there’s some stark difference between elite and 2nd-tier schools, mainly in the quality of jobs available. In elite MBA schools, the job all starts at 100+K in high impact/growth position (unless you do non-profit). It’s common to join a leadership rotation program, in which you are groomed by senior management. In 2nd tier school, often you do not get the same high impact positions or salary.
