Would Anyone Happen to Know..?

By chance, would anyone know what the chances are of Columbia accepting more than one applicant from the same high school?

I've often wondered this as I compare myself to the competition at my school that is also applying to Columbia. Also, I have a very good friend who is applying, and who probably stands a better chance of getting into Columbia, and I would love for it to be possible for us to get in together.

I'm simply wondering though.

columbia doesn’t have quotas. they will sometimes accept a lot of students at some high schools and the next year accept none. it all depends on how the students present themselves and whether or not the admission folks think they fit the bill.

so long as you are strong candidates there is always a chance you can both be admitted. and though your friend might be good at some things, you might be strong in others. not every student is admitted for the same reason.

I don’t think applicants from the same school are compared to each other specifically, they’re just compared with the whole applicant pool.

The only way the applicants from the same school are compared to each other is when the college looks at the top 10 or top something percentage of the students, and when they look at the classes you’ve chosen to take. Otherwise, the school should have no quota and they don’t specifically compare you to other students from the same school.
