Interests: Hoping to double major in Journalism & Asian Studies. Possibly minoring in Gender & Sexuality.

I am a girl, Asian (half Vietnamese & half Cambodian), first generation to go to college, 16 years old. Parent's make less than 24,000, so I'll have to rely on financial aid/scholarships.

I live in Arizona.

Thank you!

That is pretty damn impressive. Now, csu’s don’t factor in extra curriculars. But your accolades are impressive. Taking those college level classes and getting A’s in them will help you tremendously.

You seem like a smart person who can handle a huge load of tough classes and obligations outside of school. So, why would you major in something that will send you back to living with mom and dad after graduation? Now, I don’t know what your goals are. If you want to be a journalist then great…go for that. But if you are unsure, why would you major in something so broad and easy? It seems like you can handle challenges and tough classes, so why not major in something that will set you up for success? Like Biology (med school), Engineering, chemistry, finance, accounting, psychology (medical psychologist).

Thanks, I’m glad that the college classes will help, because I feel like (compared to others on this site), my stats aren’t that great.

As for the major… well, I’m really interested in Journalism and Photojournalism in general. And for sure, I will either be majoring or minoring in Asian Studies. I could technically go for another major; Biology’s pretty interesting, but I don’t know how I’ll do in the class yet. I just suck at Chemistry, and I’m not that fond of math in general. I’m taking Psychology 101 next semester, so I might consider that. Thanks for the advice!
